Patients with deep wrinkles, volume loss, uneven skin tone, and droopy skin are usually ideal candidates for PRP therapy. Since it promotes collagen production naturally, it's also a great treatment choice if you have tired or dull-looking skin. Talk to Dr. Zainab about any skin conditions, blood disorders, or anemia to ensure that it's safe for you to undergo PRP therapy.
After you're comfortably seated in one of our secluded minor procedure areas, a small amount of blood will be drawn from one of your arms and put into a centrifuge machine. Typically, we draw around four tablespoons or one vial of blood. After approximately 15 minutes on the centrifuge machine, the components of the blood separate and are then ready to be injected. We will load your concentrated plasma into a syringe and inject it into the designated areas of the face. The PRP process typically only takes about five minutes, but this will vary for each patient.
What to Expect
Plasma from PRP therapy naturally promotes collagen production and elastin to reveal tighter and younger appearing skin. Since it uses your own blood, there is no risk of allergic or adverse reactions. You can expect your face to be a little red following treatment as some traces of red blood cells will be included in the injection. Cold packs can be used on the injection site to ease any discomfort and swelling. Dr. Zainab recommends you undergo treatments in 4 – 6-week intervals to maintain results.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does PRP therapy cost?
The cost of PRP therapy will be dependent on the area being treated and if it is combined with another cosmetic procedure. Dr. Zainab will come up with an estimated cost during your initial consultation and discuss all your payment options.
How long do results from PRP therapy last?
PRP therapy has been known to last for 4 – 8 weeks. The longevity of the results will vary with each patient and will depend on the area being treated. The benefit of this procedure is that it does not require surgery or significant downtime and is more affordable.
What are the risks and complications of PRP therapy?
The risks for PRP by itself are extremely minor and include only prolonged bruising and swelling. When combined with microneedling, however, potential risks may include infection, mild scarring, pigment changes, and delayed healing. That’s why it’s important to have microneedling done by a skilled doctor who is highly experienced with the process.
Is PRP therapy painful?
PRP injections feel similar to a dermal filler or BOTOX injection with the additional step of the plasma extraction. Typically, most patients will feel a mild pinch or pressure at the time of injection. If you are concerned about pain or discomfort, ask about including local anesthesia during your consultation.
When you have PRP treatments, your complexion will look healthier and brighter than ever before, producing a glowing, beautiful appearance. This treatment is ideal for those who appreciate a natural technique for skin rejuvenation that provides gorgeous results.
